SUNDAY, DECEMBER 25, 1977 – Christmas Day!
I got up at 8:00 a.m. today, went downstairs and opened the presents that were in my stocking. I got this diary, the pen that I’m writing with, a box of candy, a 1938 proof set of coins and an invisible ink quiz book. I ate breakfast and went to work unwrapping the presents under the tree. From Mama and Daddy I got some clothes, the Beatles “White Album” and an 8-TRACK TAPE PLAYER! They also got me an ABBA “Arrival” tape! Stevie got me the “Yesterday and Today” album by the Beatles and “It’s so Easy” by Linda Ronstadt. I got some candy and “Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl” tape. I got an initialed wrist chain from my Uncle Ronny and a soccer ball from my Aunt Kathy. More tomorrow…

I got up at 9:00 a.m. today, went downstairs and played my 8-track player. Vicky spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. At 12:00 p.m., we left for Flint. We went ice skating at Genesee Iceland with Mickey and Mike. We spent the night with them and had a pizza for dinner. It was a good day.

I got up at 9:00 a.m. today and ate breakfast. At noon, Grandma and Grandpa took us to their house from Mickey and Mike’s. I’m spending the night here tonight. I think I’ll rest now. It was a good day.

I got up at 9:30 a.m. today and watched TV. I rested until noon, when Mama took me home. I had to take my 8-track player back to Sears to be repaired because Stevie busted the locking mechanism. I’ll have it back in a week. I went to Larry’s birthday party. I did the papers and got done at 5:25 p.m. I watched “Black Sheep Squadron”. It was good and so was the day.

I got up at 10:00 a.m. today, went downstairs, ate and worked at Licata’s. I
worked until 5:00 p.m. I was paid $5.00. I ate dinner at Larry’s house. Well,
to celebrate New Year’s, Fran, Larry, Linda and Kimmie came over. Larry and I
goofed around for most of the time. Finally midnight grew near. We all grabbed
up our champagne. Finally, the seconds ticked away…

I did some shoveling of the snow that fell last night. At 5:00 p.m. we went to the Nagy’s house. We stayed until 7:30 p.m. I got $15.00 from them for Christmas because I’m their godson. I came home and watched TV. It was a cool day!

I found out that I can’t get my 8-track player back because there aren’t any replacements. I got the money back and I’ll be getting a different one tomorrow. I’ll also be going to a Petra rock concert in Detroit tomorrow. It was a good day.

I got up at 6:30 a.m. today and turned on the radio to find there was no school. The reason is the blowing and drifting snow and extremely cold temperatures (-24 degrees F with wind chill). Larry came over for a while today. We ate lunch at Hardee’s. It was a good day.

I got up at 6:30 a.m. today, turned on the radio and heard there was no school. I went back to bed and woke again at 10:00 a.m. We finally got to go skating on our side of the Millpond. I worked at Licata’s for a while today, came home and went skating. Guess what? ABBA has a new record out! It’s called “Name of the Game”. I’m going to buy it. It was a great day!

(I’ll get my fillings on Feb. 7.) I spent the rest of the day bleeding and starving. It was a good day.

At 1:00 p.m., John Clark came over and we worked on a new home movie. When he left, I ate and worked at Licata’s to unload some new skates. I was paid $1.50. At 6:00 p.m., I went to Flint with Larry to hear a guy who was talking about Bible stuff. I got home at 10:00 p.m. and watched “The Defection of Simas Kidurka”. It was a good day.

I got up at 6:30 a.m. today, heard there was no school and went back to sleep. I woke up again at 8:30 a.m. to see the barometer at 28.35 inches! That’s the lowest ever recorded in Genesee County. Looking outside, I could see why school was closed. There was snow all over the place! Blizzard warnings were out. Daddy had to spend the night at some guy’s house. I took some pictures of the drifts. There’ll be no school tomorrow either. It was an unusual day. (NOTE: At the bottom of the page, I drew a cross-section diagram of the ground cover. I noted there was a layer of ice over which there was some slush capped by another ice sheet. On top of all that was a layer of drifting snow.)

I got up at 10:00 a.m. today, went downstairs and watched TV. I didn’t do very much for the first part of the day, but at 2:00 p.m. Stevie and I played Incredicatch for an hour and a half. At 7:30 p.m. we went to Easter Vigil mass. It lasted three hours. It was a good day.

We ate our Easter breakfast and rested. Grandma and Grandpa didn’t come over today due to the cruddy weather (freezing rain). I sold my ELO “Out of the Blue” album to Stevie for $10.00. I now have $21.00 I watched “Hollywood Outtakes” at 10:00 p.m. It was funny. It was a good day. HAPPY EASTER!

I got up at 6:30 a.m. today, went downstairs and watched the “Today” show. Today was “sun-day”, a day to honor solar energy. I celebrated by watching the sunrise this morning. School was good today. I had homework for Algebra and English. We did the papers and got done at 6:30 p.m. I ate, did my homework and took out the boat. I retrieved an old basketball from the millpond. It was a good day. Detroit – 7, California – 4.

(Even as I’m writing I’m listening to it.) I watched TV and relaxed. I have to work at Licata’s tomorrow. Well, Pete Rose got his 3,000th hit today. It was a good day. Oakland – 5, Detroit – 1.

I got up at 10:00 a.m. today, went downstairs and watched TV. We went to mass and Mr. Hawke’s class. When I got back we took the boat to the high banks and up to where the electric wires cross over the river. I went up to the cove with Larry where we found his raft that had been stolen. I watched TV when I got back. It was a good day. Detroit – 4, Oakland – 0.

I had a lab report for Science and some homework for Algebra. At 6:30 p.m. we went to the Keith Green concert in Flint. It was great. It was a good day!

I got up at 9:15 a.m. today, went downstairs and went to church. After mass and Mr. Hawke’s class, I came home and tried out the 6/10 mile course. I set a new record of 3:08.0! (The old record was 3:20.5.) Today we got a special treat because we got out the Suburban and went to the Turkey Roost near Kawkawlin! It was decent! So was the day! Detroit – 15, Oakland – 0.

When I got home, I went fishing with Larry. I caught a few bluegills and crappies. (and one bullhead). I found out that tomorrow we’re getting a canoe! I can’t wait. It was a good day. It took a branch off the willow tree and another piece of tree limb stuck into the ground. I took my Health final, came home and ate and then took my Physical Science final. Larry and I played tennis, baseball and Frisbee baseball. It was a good day.

in August whether I got it or not. I went to the drive-in with Larry to watch
“Warlords of Atlantis” and “The Eagle Has Landed”. The movies were good and so

I got up at 10:00 a.m. today, went downstairs and ate breakfast. I got a call from John telling me I had to come in to work on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. at St. John’s. I rested until our papers came. We got a raise to $10.00 per week (not bad!) I just rested the rest of the day. It was a good day. Detroit – 5, California – 4.

mass, I ate lunch at Larry’s. At 1:00 p.m., our family, Betty, Sandy and Larry
got into the Suburban and went to the Hungarian Festival in Burton. While we
were there we ate, looked around and launched three helium balloons with notes
attached. I’ll be waiting for a reply. It was also at the festival that I heard
that Pope Paul VI died. When we got home we played some baseball. It was a good

Today was the second annual Fenton Festival. It was okay. Mickey and Mike came over to see it with us. When they left, Daddy and I went to Weishaupt’s where I got a new Ross “Europa” 10-speed bike! It’s great! It cost me $110.55. After eating at “Ponderosa” I rode it around. It was a good day. Detroit – 6, Milwaukee – 4.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 1978 – THANKSGIVING
I got up at 9:45 a.m. today, went downstairs and ate breakfast. I watched some of the parades on TV. Grandma and Grandpa came over and at 1:00 p.m. we had our turkey feast. It was delicious. When they left (they took Vicky there overnight) Stevie and I played targetball. It was a great day.

I got up at 9:45 a.m. today, went downstairs and watched TV. I spent a lot of time playing target ball and listening to my stereo. I went to K-Mart where I got some dress shoes and the “News of the World” album by Queen. It was a good day.

When I got home, we went to Grandma and Grandpa’s for the afternoon. Mickey and Mike were there and we all had a good time. When I got home I watched TV, listened to my stereo and rested. It was a good day.

During that time I took down bingo stuff, cleaned the rooms, cleaned the church sidewalk and waxed the school halls. When I got home I wasn’t feeling too well. I just rested quite a lot. I feel better now, however. It was a good day.

I got up at 7:00 a.m., went downstairs and got ready for work. I worked three hours over (8:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m.) and in that time I took down for bingo, mopped the church and set up “La Luminaire” candles. I came home and spent the rest of the day sleeping, eating and watching TV. 2 days.

I listened to the stereo, played target-ball and just passed the time. It’s hard to believe tomorrow is Christmas! We went to the 6:00 p.m. mass.
